David Caruso vs. Emily Procter!

We are once again guilty of plagiarizing an idea, or the resurfacing of an idea. This time the victims are dclindy and bennu on the Topix board. Mea culpas to both. We've held a tight rein on our pesky little intrusive fingers regarding this issue, fearful of fanning the flames. No More. It needs to be out of the closet and presented as a reality, front and center. If it provides Vixen yet another opportunity for David Caruso-bashing, so be it.

In a recent interview with Kristine Huntley, the excellent reviewer at CSI Files, Emily Procter addresses many questions about CSI Miami, her co-stars, her character's (Calleigh Duquesne) development, love interests and future. Very good interview, full of fluff, the stuff fans love and can't get enough. The questions posed to Emily by Kristine were assuredly passed through by The Powers That Be, including the Horatio v Calleigh estrangement. Anyone who believes Ann Donahue didn't have a hand in formulating the question AND the verbiage in the answer is the type of viewer they love (shades of Bennu's cynicism).

The question mark remaining in our mind is the lack of interaction between Horatio Caine (David Caruso) and Calleigh. Emily's explanation, exceptable to many, doesn't wash with this blogger. While the premise in the interview may well be plausible, the reasoning is not. They would not be "split off", as Emily says, if the scripts were written with them together in scenes.

It's very much the "chicken and egg" scenario. If scripts included interactions between David Caruso and Emily Procter, they would BE on the same schedule for those scenes. The scripts are not being written to show ANY relationship between the two.

After over a year of separateness, the lack of colleague support shown in "Stand Your Ground" stands as a benchmark of absurdity in the annals of CSI Miami character development. Even Kristine Huntley, in her review of this episode last fall, wrote at length of this bizarre behavior.

We're not in the market for juicy gossip on the various personality clashes or hook-ups that take place on any long-standing series set. We are simply asking that those involved put their differences (or their hormones) aside while "at the office" and get down to the business of putting out a strong, viable episode every 10 days (or 8 in 7 weeks, as Emily announced). To put it in context, "if you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch".

Hi Dojo!! :)
I am a big fan of your blog, and fully support your efforts regarding David Caruso's stalker, Vixen.
I would like to say a big 'Thank you' for speaking out about the situation with Horatio and Calleigh's lack of interaction. I myself am a 'shipper' fan of Horatio and Calleigh, and have been very disappointed by this great distance between them, which has been continuing for at least 29 episodes.
I fully agree with the points you have raised, and feel it is about time some light was shed on this 'conflict', as it were. I'm glad that Miami fans, even those who do not ship 'DuCaine', are asking why Calleigh and Horatio are apart, seeing as how they are the two leads and had such a wonderful rapport in Season 1-3. How could that mysteriously vanish?
I myself enjoyed Emily's interview, and was very happy and surprised to hear her address this scheduling issue, and not avoiding it completely. But I suppose this has been swept under the carpet for much too long. (especially from a shipper's point of view!! :P)
I have recently seen the Miami cast interview on ET online, and am very happy to see David and Emily working together once more. Hopefully, they will be written together more often. Fingers crossed for the new episodes.
Thank you once again for being a voice of reason in this crazy world known as the Internet. :)
Keep on rocking!!

Thanks for your comments. We love having you read and post.

As we said in our piece, we believe Kristine was encouraged by TPTB to ask the question and, of course, Emily was ready with the "proper" response.

I'm reading that Horatio and Calleigh will have a couple of scenes together in an upcoming episode, "Ambushed". All I can say is, IT'S ABOUT TIME!

Yes, your point is well taken. In my hurried response to Bennu this morning I deleted my second sentence and dind't have time to repost before leaving for work. It should have read "Interesting thought Bennu. Either way, the writers need to lead the story in that direction. avagoodweekend!"
And indeed I do. H needs to be more than a background co-ordinator. The chemestry of the (whole)team was an important and enjoyable aspect of the show

It took Vixen just over 12 hours to quote you and turn the whole Horatio/Calleigh thing into a 'let's blame Caruso' rant. We all knew she would.
